La Grange Village Board of Trustees
Joyce Lightner
with response from Elizabeth Asperger, Village President
Lightner: I have an aunt and uncle who were hit in an automobile accident on Tilden Ave. They were headed east on Lincoln Ave by a motorist who was traveling ... I think she was traveling north on Tilden Ave. Both of them are at Loyola in critical condition, and I just want to call it to the Village's attention that I think that something needs to be done there.
I have been almost hit several times as have many of the other residents. The persons traveling on Tilden Ave, north and south, do not recognize the fact that the traffic coming across that railroad track does not have to stop. They are failing to stop at the stop signs and I think something should be done to call to their attention, or to make them aware of the fact, that they should stop at those stop signs. It is very dangerous.
One other thing I wanted to mention also was the boarded up housing in our community. One is at 235 Washington Ave. That's been boarded up for years. The other one is at 24 Hayes Ave. That's boarded up and has been boarded up for years.
The one on Hayes Ave, I know that the police have been called many times because of people entering that building for the wrong things. I would like to see some action taken to have those buildings either repaired or demolished.
Thank you.
Asperger: Thank you, Joyce. I'm glad you were here this evening. We will ask our police department to take a look at that situation on Tilden. Maybe with [some] additional signage, or with your recommendation or analysis, that would be helpful. Our community development department I'm sure will follow through on the boarded up properties.
Thank you, Ms. Lightner.
